The letter was waiting for him when Patrick checked his post.

He meant to return to his hotel and read the response in the privacy of his guest chamber, but he barely managed three steps out the door before backing against the cobble-fronted façade of the post office to tear open the wax seal of Salt&Sea’s latest letter.

Once it was in his hands, however, he hesitated before reading her words. He had come to Brighton in search of Salt&Sea. This was it. Her reply would determine what path came next. If she wished to meet even half as ardently, then his search was over. He would squash his interest in Deborah and give one hundred percent of his attention and effort to Salt&Sea.

Any woman he wooed deserved no less than his all.
